In the spirit of democracy, the President and Commander in Chief of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured law makers that the new bill to be passed as a new minimum wage will soon be sent to the National Assembly.
While making his speech for the June 12 democracy day, the President acknowledged that this administration is making progressive efforts towards making the right decision for Nigerian workers.
“In this spirit, we have negotiated in good faith and with open arms with organized labour on a new national minimum wage. We shall soon send an executive bill to the National Assembly to enshrine what has been agreed upon as part of our law for the next five years or less,” the President said
Recall that the tripartite committee set up to negotiate for a national minimum wage has sent a proposal to Mr president.
While the committee arrived at #62,000 as their recommendations for the new national minimum wage, labour was far apart as they demanded #250,000 as the minimum wage.
We are yet to hear from the labour unions as the five working days Ultimatum expired on Tuesday.
