A new player has entered the Nigerian education system with the upcoming launch of Charterhouse Lagos, a subsidiary of the British Charterhouse School. Set to open its doors in September 2024, the institution aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s education system by combining traditional values with modern teaching methodologies.

Charterhouse Lagos, located in the Ogombo neighbourhood of Ajah, Lagos, will offer a curriculum covering core subjects such as mathematics, English, STEM, social studies, and languages, with additional focus areas including business studies, art, and music. The school’s state-of-the-art campus will feature modern classrooms, cutting-edge technology, and extensive extracurricular facilities to foster holistic student development.

The school’s Director of Communications, Damilola Olatunbosun, has emphasized the institution’s commitment to excellence, stating that Charterhouse Lagos will provide a prestigious and value-driven world-class educational experience. The school has also partnered with Evercare Hospital for healthcare services and Ruff n Tumble for quality uniforms, reinforcing its dedication to global standards and local impact.

As the education sector in Nigeria continues to evolve, the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of students during protests and the introduction of new educational institutions like Charterhouse Lagos highlight the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education in the country. However, more work remains to be done to address the persistent challenges facing the sector and to ensure that all students have access to quality education.
