Tragedy struck today as a car was completely destroyed by fire in the heart of Benue State.
The incident occurred when the vehicle developed a mechanical fault, prompting the driver to attempt repairs at the roadside.
Eyewitnesses reported that while the driver was working on the vehicle, a sudden spark ignited a fire. Initially, the flames were small, but they quickly grew, engulfing the entire car. Despite efforts from bystanders to extinguish the blaze, the fire raged uncontrollably, reducing the vehicle to a charred shell.
Local residents expressed shock and dismay at the incident, noting the speed at which the fire escalated. “We saw the driver trying to fix the car, and then there was a spark. Before we knew it, the fire was out of control,” said one onlooker.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the vehicle had already been consumed by the flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the driver escaped unscathed.
Authorities in Benue State are urging motorists to exercise caution when attempting roadside repairs and to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained to prevent such incidents in the future.
