Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has expressed his admiration for the Southeast governors who have recently taken a firm stance regarding the detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Charly Boy took to X to voice his support, stating, “I just thank God say southeast governors don dey vibrate on top of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu matter. Infact, belle sweet me, the injustice is becoming unbecoming. Thunder fire any ‘Sabo’ for dis matter. AreaFada.”

This move by the governors marks a significant step, as they plan to meet President Bola Tinubu to discuss the necessity of Kanu’s release. The Southeast Senators have also echoed this sentiment.

On Wednesday, a delegation of 15 senators, led by former Abia State Deputy Governor Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, appealed to President Tinubu to order Kanu’s release. They emphasized that the prolonged detention of Kanu is detrimental to the social and economic stability of the Southeast region.

During a closed-door meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the senators highlighted that unless Kanu is released, the region will continue to face stagnation. The collective efforts of the Southeast governors and senators signal a unified demand for justice and the alleviation of tensions in the region.
