Maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shared details about his close relationship with the late Nigerian singer, Tyna Onwudiwe, revealing that they almost got married.

Speaking about their bond, Charly Boy recalled, “I almost married Tyna [Onwudiwe]. One day, we sat down and talked about it. I said, oh, no, I don’t see myself marrying two wives.”

He further explained, “If we got married, we would kill ourselves. Let’s be good friends. And we became the best of all friends. Tyna was such a beautiful soul. She would give her last penny to a stranger.”

Charly Boy also addressed rumours that some of Tyna’s children were his, noting, “People used to tease me by calling her my wife. They said your wife has cancer… Some of her kids, people think they’re my kids.”

He revealed that during her battle with cancer, he raised funds to support her, but sadly, Tyna Onwudiwe passed away on June 29, 2001, just 17 days after her 47th birthday.

Tyna Onwudiwe was well known for her talent and generous spirit, and her relationship with Charly Boy remains a significant part of her legacy.
