Chelsea Football Club has reportedly made an initial offer of around €20 million for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

This summer, the Blues have been active in the transfer market, welcoming seven new players to Stamford Bridge. However, the club is still eager to bolster their squad further.

Currently on a pre-season tour in the United States, Chelsea aims to finalize two or three additional signings before the end of July, according to a report from The Athletic.

The club is particularly focused on acquiring a goalkeeper, a winger, and a striker, and it seems they have zeroed in on Jorgensen as their preferred choice for the goalkeeper position.

Earlier reports indicated that Chelsea was exploring options for a new keeper, compiling a shortlist of four candidates. It now appears they have prioritized Jorgensen, submitting their first bid for the 22-year-old goalkeeper.

Following discussions regarding the player’s potential move, Chelsea has expressed interest in Jorgensen, who is reportedly enthusiastic about the opportunity to join the club.

Jorgensen, who had a standout performance last season in La Liga, is noted for having prevented the most goals among goalkeepers in the league. He also recorded six clean sheets in 37 matches across all competitions while conceding 64 goals, contributing to Villarreal’s eighth-place finish.

Though Chelsea added two goalkeepers, Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic, last summer, the pursuit of Jorgensen may raise eyebrows. Reports suggest that Sanchez is set to be Enzo Maresca’s first-choice keeper, while Petrovic, who had a promising season, may be on the verge of departing after just one year.

There are concerns regarding Petrovic’s fit within Maresca’s tactical framework, and he has reportedly been offered to Italian club Genoa.

Should Jorgensen join Chelsea, it could result in either Sanchez or Petrovic leaving the club this summer, whether through a permanent transfer or a loan arrangement.
