Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has been appointed as the chairperson for the upcoming African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) Conference, organized by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) this October.

Mr. Samuel Sanusi, a Pastor and the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of BSN, shared this announcement during a press briefing held in Lagos on Friday.

Sanusi explained that the ABLI was established during a special prayer breakfast for African Heads of States and Governments in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2010.

The primary goal of ABLI is to foster substantial national transformation through leadership grounded in biblical principles and values.

He further noted that the initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of ethical leaders characterized by honor, integrity, capability, and expertise.

Sanusi emphasized that the ABLI Forum is a political and non-denominational platform designed to facilitate both personal and cultural transformation guided by biblical teachings.

This year marks the 11th edition of the ABLI Conference, which has previously taken place in ten other African nations. Nigeria will host the conference under the theme “Value-Based Leadership: A Model for Africa.”

The event is scheduled to occur at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre in Abuja from October 21 to October 24, starting daily at 9:00 a.m.

Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, will serve as the Conference Chair, with Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the First Lady of Nigeria, attending as the Special Guest of Honour.

Notable attendees will include General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), Patron of BSN; Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan; and Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who will be the host.

Participants from various backgrounds across Africa, Europe, America, and Asia are expected, including General Secretaries and CEOs from African Bible Societies, Sanusi revealed.

Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, former Chief Justice of South Africa, and Dr. Zienzi Dillon, Founder and CEO of Carmel Global Capital in New York, will deliver keynote addresses during the event.

Sanusi indicated that the sessions will feature discussions on the Values of Social Harmony, Justice, Integrity, and Wisdom.
