The Chinese Embassy has conveyed China’s commitment to collaborating with Nigeria in cultural exchange programs and infrastructure development.
During a courtesy visit to the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Zhang Yi emphasized the importance of a partnership between both countries, particularly in the area of infrastructural development.
The Chinese envoy acknowledged the Minister’s agenda for strategic partnership and infrastructure development, highlighting the plans to develop the Abuja Creative City project.
Zhang Yi stated that China has been dedicated to supporting Nigeria’s sovereignty and encouraging Chinese companies to invest in the country.
He stressed the significance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Nigeria, as they form the foundation of a strong bilateral relationship.
Zhang Yi expressed China’s interest in hosting President Tinubu of Nigeria in China in September, aiming to further strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
He recognized Nigeria’s rich cultural background and emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges to deepen mutual understanding.
In response, Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa emphasized the need for both countries to align their cultural programs to showcase their unique selling points to the world.
She expressed the importance of investment, particularly in infrastructure, and highlighted the Abuja Creative City project, which aims to become a comprehensive hub for culture and creativity in Africa.
The minister mentioned plans to establish film studios, arenas, museums, and galleries within the city, stressing the significance of collaboration with China in infrastructure development.
The Minister and the Ambassador also discussed the progress made during the first meeting of the Culture and Tourism Subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Committee of China and Nigeria.
They reviewed achievements in cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries and expressed their commitment to further promote bilateral exchanges and collaboration in these areas.
The commitment expressed by the Chinese Embassy signifies the intention to enhance cultural ties and contribute to Nigeria’s infrastructure development, fostering a closer relationship between the two nations.
