In a startling revelation, Concerned Rivers Citizens (CRC) has taken decisive action by expelling certain individuals suspected to be loyalists of former governor Nyesom Wike.
The group cited the expelled members’ engagement in selfish and malicious activities as the reason behind their expulsion.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, CRC President Jackson Thomas and Secretary-General Kelvin Eguono expressed their shock at the accused individuals’ audacity to engage in blackmail against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“We are appalled that these individuals would resort to blackmailing Governor Simi Fubara in an attempt to appease their paymasters, completely disregarding the actual issues at hand,” the statement read.
The CRC made it very clear that they have no association with the expelled members and do not endorse their actions. Emphasizing their non-partisan stance, the group reiterated its commitment to promoting good governance and accountability in Rivers State, regardless of political affiliations.
“We are dedicated to upholding the truth and the rule of law in Rivers State, and we will not be swayed by personal interests or political loyalties,” the statement further asserted.
The ongoing face-off between former governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has been a cause for concern in Rivers State since 2023.
Despite the intervention of President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders, the political crisis persists, leaving the state in a state of uncertainty.
