The Abuja Court of Appeal has officially confirmed the election triumph of Hon. Daniel Asama Ago, the Labour Party candidate representing the Bassa/Jos North federal constituency in Plateau State.
The ruling was delivered on Friday.
This verdict follows Asama Ago’s success in the bye-election held on February 4, 2024, which faced challenges from his rivals at the tribunal level. However, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal reaffirmed his victory, prompting an appeal that led to the current court ruling.
In response to the decision, Asama Ago expressed his heartfelt appreciation to God, the constituents who supported him, and the judiciary for safeguarding justice and reflecting the people’s choice. He commended the judiciary for its dedication to democracy and the rule of law.
He stated, “I dedicate this achievement to God Almighty and the wonderful citizens of Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, who have consistently backed me throughout this endeavor. I also applaud the Judiciary for proving that it remains the beacon of hope for the ordinary citizen.
“Moreover, I extend my gratitude to His Excellency Barr Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for his steadfast support and commitment to promoting authentic democratic principles. I value the Governor’s leadership and devotion to ensuring that the people’s will is honored.
“This victory illustrates the strength of democracy and the rule of law. I remain dedicated to serving the constituents of Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency and striving towards their advancement.”
