British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, popularly known as Darkoo, has revealed that coming out to her parents about her sexuality brought her immense relief and happiness.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Appointment Show podcast hosted by Layo, Darkoo shared how opening up to her mom and dad about her identity lifted a significant burden off her shoulders.
“The day I told my mom [about my sexuality], it felt like a massive weight off my shoulder… I’ve been happy since then,” she expressed.
While the conversation was more challenging for her mother, who had a strong emotional response, Darkoo noted that it wasn’t as difficult for her father. “My dad was not really interested in the conversation, but at the end of the day, I’m living my life. And that’s what I’m doing,” she added.
