The Delta State government has called on eligible young male and female graduates to apply for the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service recruitment, known as SSC/DSSC Combatant Course 48/2025.

This appeal comes in response to the state’s ongoing challenge of filling its quota during military recruitment exercises, due to a lack of interest among youths.

In a statement on Friday, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, announced that the application process is currently open and will close on September 15, 2024.

He encouraged interested individuals to visit the Nigerian Army website at www.recruitment.army.mil.ng to complete the free online application, attaching relevant documents and passport photos.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged 23 to 27 by January 2025 and hold at least a Second Class Lower Division degree in Arts, Sciences, or Humanities from accredited institutions.

Candidates are also required to meet Nigerian Army standards of physical, mental, and medical fitness, and have no criminal records.

Dr. Oghenesivbe emphasized that both civilians and serving military personnel are eligible to apply. Upon successful completion of training, recruits will serve in the Artillery, Engineering, Signals, and Intelligence Corps of the Nigerian Army.

Additionally, applicants must secure recommendations from recognized referees, such as Local Government Chairmen or high-ranking officers in the Armed Forces.

The recruitment drive aligns with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, focused on job creation and wealth-building initiatives.
