Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has Insisted that leaders chosen by God are more likely to succeed compared to those influenced by Satan.

During an engaging Zoom session titled “Boiling Point Arena,” which aired on several private radio stations in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Obasanjo shared his thoughts on leadership, reflecting on his own governmental legacy and providing insights on contemporary Nigeria.

While acknowledging that not all leaders arise through divine selection, he emphasized the notion that Satan can also play a role in the making of leaders.

Using biblical figures such as Joseph, Moses, and David as examples, Obasanjo elaborated on how God prepares individuals for leadership roles, often without their awareness.

He stated, “It really depends on which side you align with. God has a unique way of grooming individuals for leadership, often without their realization.

“Take Joseph, for instance; he had prophetic dreams that hinted at his future leadership, as he saw his brothers bowing before him. In contrast, Moses was groomed for leadership without any dreams guiding him.”

Obasanjo continued, “I believe that many leaders are divinely prepared and placed in their positions by God, and when that occurs, their likelihood of success is significantly higher than when one self-appoints, potentially outside of God’s will.”

He challenged the notion that all leaders are divinely ordained, stating, “While some argue that every leader is made by God, I disagree; Satan can also create leaders.”

Recalling the biblical story of Job, he noted that Satan, who roams the earth, challenged Job’s integrity before God, suggesting that not all forceful influences are benevolent.

The Ota-based farmer highlighted the reality and formidable nature of Satan, emphasizing that “though he lacks salvation, he possesses considerable power, which should not be underestimated.”

Nonetheless, Obasanjo concluded by stressing that effective leaders must undergo rigorous training to be adequately prepared for their roles.
