Florence Otedola, widely known as DJ Cuppy, has made history by becoming the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The prominent disc jockey and daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola moderated the Youth Action Day at the 2024 UNGA, an event themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day.”

In addition to leading the historic session, Cuppy also delivered a musical performance following her keynote. Her moderation marked the largest youth gathering ever held at the UN Headquarters.

Among other notable attendees were the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and the President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves.

DJ Cuppy’s role at the UNGA underscores her growing influence beyond music, as she continues to advocate for youth involvement and global action.
