Former House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Yusuf, expressed doubt about the possibility of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar joining forces for the 2027 presidential election.
Yusuf dismissed the likelihood of an alliance between the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates.
He stated that “They have worked together before in 2019. It would not be out of place if they work together again. I am not in their minds but I don’t see the possibility.”
Yusuf acknowledged that Obi and Atiku had previously worked together in the 2019 elections, but he doesn’t foresee a repeat collaboration.
He mentioned that Atiku’s recent comments following a closed-door meeting with Obi complicated the prospects of an alliance.
Additionally, Yusuf speculated that both Atiku and Obi might individually vie for the 2027 presidency, making the talks of a merger even more challenging.
He highlighted Atiku’s statement affirming his intention to continue contesting as long as he remains healthy, which appeared to debunk speculations about stepping down for Peter Obi.
