Zenith Bank Plc has appointed Dr. Adaora Remy Umeoji as its Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, making her the first woman to hold the position. This milestone marks a significant step forward for women in leadership and diversity in Nigeria’s financial sector.

Dr. Umeoji brings over 25 years of experience in banking, having served as Deputy Managing Director before her appointment. Her expertise and dedication have earned her recognition from the bank’s stakeholders and key decision-makers.

Under her leadership, Zenith Bank is poised to continue its trajectory of growth and innovation. With a strong focus on technology, Dr. Umeoji will leverage her expertise to drive the bank’s digital transformation.

Dr. Umeoji’s impressive educational background includes degrees from the University of Jos, Baze University, Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, and Apollos University. She is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Bankers Institute (UK) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Umeoji is a committed philanthropist, supporting cancer patients and indigent children through her NGOs, the Pink Breathe Cancer Foundation and the Adorable Foundation.

Her recognition as a peace advocate by the United Nations Police Assistance and Capacity-Building (UN-POLAC) and recipient of the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) demonstrate her impact beyond the banking sector.
