Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has paid June salaries and pensions to workers and pensioners in Edo State ahead of the Sallah celebration.
This action fulfills his promise to workers on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Edo State Secretariat Complex in Benin City.
In a statement on Friday, the state Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said, “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has paid June salaries and pensions.”
“This is in line with the government’s long-standing practice of meeting its salary obligations before the 26th of every month and to enable our Muslim brothers and sisters to have a good Sallah celebration.”
The commissioner reassured everyone that the government will continue to prioritize the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, noting that comprehensive reforms in the public and civil service have made Edo the most attractive public employer in Nigeria.
He added, “Civil and public servants in Edo State have consistently received their salaries promptly, even after raising the state’s minimum wage from N40,000 to N70,000, the highest in the country.
“We will continue to prioritize workers’ welfare, ensuring they are well-empowered and supported to deliver optimal and quality services to the people of Edo.”
