The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a warning to Governor Monday Okpebholo regarding his claims of credit for the construction of Temboga Road.

The PDP has also cautioned the governor against attributing accomplishments to himself that were initiated and completed under the administration of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.

This statement was released on Sunday by Chris Nehikhare, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee.

The PDP characterized Okpebholo’s assertions about launching the 7.5km Temboga Road project, among others, as deceptive and misleading, pointing out that the road was already constructed by Obaseki’s administration.

Nehikhare urged the governor to refrain from his antics of distorting the achievements of the former administration by claiming credit for initiatives that were not his own.

He challenged Okpebholo to concentrate on fulfilling any campaign promises he made and to embark on projects that genuinely reflect his administration’s vision, if indeed there is one.

“It is unfortunate that Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-select, is starting his tenure on such a poor note and resorting to misleading the people of Edo State with false claims regarding projects already completed by his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki,” Nehikhare stated.

“One such project is the 7.5km Temboga Road, which was both initiated and completed by the Obaseki-led government. This is completely unacceptable and we strongly condemn such actions. We urge the governor-select and his administration to cease these unscrupulous behaviors immediately.”

Nehikhare emphasized that the people of Edo deserve honesty and transparency, rather than deception. He called on Senator Okpebholo to focus on delivering his campaign pledges and to initiate his own projects that align with his vision for Edo State, if there are any developmental plans in place.
