As the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki prepares for a transition, Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has highlighted his accomplishments during his time in office.

In a post on X, Shaibu noted that under the current leadership, Edo State has become the top destination for sports, experienced a transformation in education, revitalized healthcare services, and witnessed significant infrastructural progress.

“Welcome to November, a month of thanksgiving and transition,” he stated, expressing gratitude for the trust the people of Edo have placed in him over the past eight years. “It has been a privilege to serve as your Deputy Governor.”

Reflecting on their achievements, Shaibu proudly asserted, “From establishing Edo State as the Number 1 Sports destination to transforming our education system, revitalizing healthcare, and enhancing infrastructure, our administration’s motto, ‘Making Edo Great Again’ (MEGA), has served as our guiding principle rather than just a catchphrase.”

He thanked the citizens of Edo for their unwavering support and partnership, acknowledging their resilience and determination as a source of inspiration.

“As we move forward, I encourage you to stay committed to our collective vision for a prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant Edo State. Together, let us continue to build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and the generations to come.”

He concluded with hopes for a seamless transition and a promising November.

Despite his achievements, Shaibu’s tenure has not been without challenges, particularly following a fallout with Governor Obaseki.

This conflict led to an attempted impeachment by the state House of Assembly, which was later overturned by a Federal High Court in Abuja, restoring him to his position. During this tumultuous period, Shaibu also made the decision to switch allegiance to the All Progressives Congress.
