The Edo State Police Command has apprehended Richard John Abdullahi, an ex-convict, in connection with kidnapping and armed robbery activities within the state. The suspect, who had previously served time for related offenses, was arrested following a tip-off by vigilant community members.

Speaking on the arrest, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed that Abdullahi had been under investigation for his involvement in recent criminal activities, including orchestrating kidnapping operations and armed robbery along major highways in the state. He was nabbed during a sting operation conducted by the anti-kidnapping unit.

The police recovered firearms, ammunition, and other illegal weapons during the arrest, linking him directly to several robbery cases. SP Nwabuzor emphasized that the police would intensify their efforts to bring more of his accomplices to justice and ensure the safety of residents.

This latest development comes as the Edo State Police Command continues its crackdown on criminal activities, especially targeting ex-convicts who return to crime. The police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

Abdullahi is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
