Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ilorin, Kwara State, have apprehended eleven individuals suspected of participating in illegal mining activities, along with confiscating eight truckloads of various minerals.

  1. According to a statement by Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for EFCC, the arrests took place on Wednesday, May 5, 2024, following credible intelligence gathered at multiple sites in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The EFCC operatives intercepted the suspects while they were transporting various solid minerals, including marble stone, white powder, lithium, and lepidolite, to undisclosed destinations without legal authorization.

The individuals apprehended by the anti-graft agency are identified as Ibrahim Gambo, Hakeem Saka, Ahmad Muktar, Sulaiman Ibrahim, Ibrahim Muhammad, Jamiu Mustapha, Rabiu Musa, Aisha Muham, Abdulwasiu Hannafi, Qudus Olalere, and Babatunde Hakeem. Following ongoing investigations, the suspects will face charges in court.
