The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has deployed over 47,000 personnel across the nation to ensure maximum security during the festive season.
Dr. Audi made this announcement during a meeting with the NSCDC’s top management team at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
He emphasized the importance of implementing all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He stated that this extensive deployment is essential to justify the public’s confidence in the Corps and to meet expectations by securing every part of the country.
The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, issued a statement on Friday confirming that the Commandant-General has instructed all Zonal Commanders and State Commandants to strictly adhere to the operational order, standard operating procedures, and code of conduct to maintain peace and order in their regions.
Dr. Audi also mandated that all critical national assets and infrastructure must be diligently protected, and there should be substantial efforts to apprehend vandals and economic saboteurs.
The deployment includes all Special Forces, the Commandant-General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Agro Rangers, Mining Marshals, the Special Female Squad, SWAT, and other specialized units. These units will provide continuous surveillance on critical national assets and infrastructure, ensuring free movement without fear or intimidation.
Dr. Audi highlighted the need for cooperation with other security agencies, emphasizing effective collaboration and coordination to swiftly address emerging threats.
“No single agency has a monopoly on strategies for tackling security challenges. The NSCDC will continue to work with other security agencies to strengthen the nation’s security architecture,” he said.
“It is essential for all formations to remain alert, increase patrols, conduct surveillance, and gather intelligence both on land and in coastal areas, with all identified black spots being marked as high-risk zones.”
Dr. Audi extended his greetings to Muslim faithful celebrating Eid-el-Kabir and encouraged the public to remain vigilant, urging them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency for appropriate action.
