The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced that it will discontinue the use of UNISTAR meters starting November 14, 2024. Customers are urged to apply for new meters to avoid being switched to postpaid billing.

In a notice issued on Friday, October 11, 2024, EKEDC highlighted that UNISTAR meters are incompatible with the new STS 2.0 metering system, which is being implemented across its network.

The company stated: “UNISTAR meters are not compatible with the new STS 2.0 system. Please apply for a new meter to prevent being transitioned to postpaid billing.”

EKEDC also reminded customers of the looming deadline: “Did you know that UNISTAR meters will be phased out by November 14, 2024? To apply for a prepaid meter, visit www.ekedp.com/metering.”

Customers are encouraged to take swift action to avoid any disruption in their billing process and to continue enjoying the benefits of prepaid metering.
