Super Eagles stand in Captain, William Troost-Ekong has agreed a deal in principle for his transfer to the Saudi Pro league side Al Khalood.
Ekong who won the Greek league last season with PAOK will now be playing in the Saudi Pro league after agreeing the deal.
Ekong won the player of the tournament in this year’s TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations as he led Nigeria to a second place finish scoring two important goals.
He scored two crucia goals against host Côte d’Ivoire in the group stage and South Africa in the Semi Final.
Nigeria defeated host Nation Cote d’Ivoire, thanks to William Troost-Ekong’s 55th minute penalty and also gave Nigeria the lead against South Africa and as well marshalled the defence for the West African side.
Ekong was however snubbed by coach Finidi George who had a short stint with the Super Eagles in their two world cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium while also losing 2-1 to Benin Republic in Côte d’Ivoire to put their world cup hopes up in the air.
Transfer expert and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on his official X account , “William Troost-Ekong has agreed to join Al Khalood in Saudi Arabia.
“PAOK and Al Khalood agreed on fees plus personal terms also in place.
