The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday announced a 23-man shortlist for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The list as made public on Tuesday saw the return of stand-in captain William Troost-Ekong who was omitted from the side by immediate past Super Eagles coach, Finidi George.

Former Akwa United defender who now plies his trade with the South African side Orlando Pirates makes his return after a while of being absent.

Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi will also be in the bus for those games in September.

Nigeria will take on the Cheetah of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday, September 7, before flying to Kigali to take on the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, September 10.

All the players are expected to report in Uyo on Monday, 2nd September.
