The Nigerian military announced its potential intervention in the ongoing nationwide hunger protest, known as #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, to control the looting crisis and identify its sponsors.
Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, made this statement during a press conference in Abuja on Friday, 2nd August 2024
He indicated that the military will step in if the situation escalates beyond the police’s capacity to manage.
He said, “The military will step in” once observed that the situation “breaches beyond what the Police can handle.”
Recall the #EndBadGovernance protest, which started on Thursday, August 1, 2024, gradually turned violent in several states, including Kano, Gombe, Yobe, Abuja, and Niger.
In these states, numerous properties were destroyed, and businesses came to a halt due to the escalating violence.
