During repair operations within the ceiling of a popular Wine Bar facility in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, tragedy struck as a technician identified as Austin, hailing from Kogi State, was fatally electrocuted.

The unfortunate incident happened on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, at the renowned wine bar nestled along Gas Turbine Road, Rumuekini, within the administrative jurisdiction of Obio-Akpor local government area.

Reports indicated that Austin who diligently engaged in his repair duties, encountered a fatal electric shock, resulting in his untimely demise. The precise circumstances surrounding the electrocution are yet to be fully disclosed due to further investigations by local authorities.

The incident reportedly plunged the staff of the wine bar into a state of confusion, leaving them uncertain about the immediate course of action that followed the tragic event.

With uncertainty, concerned neighbors nearby were alerted to the situation, which prompted them to raise an alarm upon learning of the unfortunate occurrence.

In response to the tragic incidence, the management of the wine bar quickly made a formal complaint at the Choba Police Division, seeking intervention and assistance. On getting the report, police officers swiftly dispatched to the scene to address the situation.

They retrieved the deceased technician’s body and conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the scene.

The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, officially confirmed the incident. She also elaborated that officers from the Choba Police Division had conducted an initial investigation at the scene and further inquiries were underway. Additionally, she noted that the deceased’s body had been taken to the mortuary pending further procedures.
