The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, 2024, as a public holiday in celebration of Democracy Day. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, via a statement from Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.
Reflecting on the significance of the day, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to honor the efforts of the nation’s founding fathers and to work towards maintaining Nigeria as a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible nation. He congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and urged them to uphold the principles of democratic governance.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to positive reforms, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized ongoing efforts to revive the economy and enhance national security. He also called on Nigerians and international friends to recognize the strides made in the country’s democratic journey and to remain hopeful for a brighter future.
