The Federal Government has approved a downward review in electricity tariff for Band A customers, reducing the rate from N225/Kwh to N206.80/Kwh.

This decision is seen as a response to public outcry over the perceived insensitivity of the previous tariff increase. Industry observers, civil society organizations, and labor unions have all criticized the high electricity costs.

Ikeja Electric has officially communicated the tariff adjustment to its customers, ensuring them of guaranteed availability of 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily for Band A customers. It is important to note that the tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E remain unchanged despite this revision.

The move to lower the electricity tariff for Band A customers indicates a responsive approach from the government and the energy sector to address public concerns and provide more affordable electricity to consumers. This decision is likely to be well-received by customers and stakeholders who have been advocating for fair and reasonable electricity pricing.
