The administration led by President Bola Tinubu has introduced an innovative initiative aimed at providing monthly financial support to unemployed graduates throughout Nigeria.
During a recent meeting with a group of young Nigerians, Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, revealed the details of this program, expressing concern that the announcement had not received adequate coverage in the media.
“One crucial aspect that hasn’t been communicated effectively is that every graduate who remains jobless is entitled to receive an allowance,” the minister stated. “The federal government has allocated funds specifically for this purpose, and it is vital for both graduates and all Nigerians to be aware of this initiative.”
This announcement comes at a time when the country is witnessing widespread protests against what demonstrators are terming “bad governance.” The protesters are voicing their demands for an end to policies they perceive as detrimental to the populace.
In addition, they are urging the government to reinstate the fuel subsidy, which President Tinubu abolished during his inaugural address on May 29, 2023.
