The Federal Government is improving its collaborations with international lessors and financiers to help the growth of domestic airlines and facilitate fleet modernization in Nigeria.
In a recent telephone interview, Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, shared insights into these initiatives.
Keyamo emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing stakeholder engagement and cultivating a robust aviation ecosystem that is competitive on a global scale, inclusive, and resilient.
He announced plans to lead a Nigerian aviation sector delegation to the upcoming “Boeing Lessor Forum” in Dublin, Ireland, scheduled for January 12 to January 15, as part of these efforts.
The “Boeing Lessor Forum” will coincide with the “Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Global Conference” at the same location in Dublin.
“This significant event underscores Nigeria’s dedication to promoting growth and sustainability within the aviation realm, guided by the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu,” Keyamo remarked.
The minister noted that the forum offers a valuable opportunity to highlight ongoing reforms while establishing strategic partnerships that will advance the Nigerian aviation sector.
“I anticipate active engagement and collaboration from the delegation to explore innovative leasing and financing solutions that align with our mutual objectives,” he added.
Keyamo also encouraged the delegation to leverage this platform to express any inquiries or logistical requirements, ensuring a smooth and effective interaction for all participants.
He further highlighted that the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda aims to enhance compliance with international standards, such as the “Cape Town Convention,” to boost investor confidence.
Additionally, the Federal Government plans to ramp up efforts in strategic investments in airport modernization and air navigation systems to improve safety and operational efficiency.
“We are actively advancing training initiatives to develop local talent and sustain the growth of the industry,” the minister concluded.
