The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to upgrading the nation’s correctional centers.

Tunji-Ojo made this statement following an assessment tour at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre Janguza in Kano on Thursday.

He stated that President Bola Ahmed’s vision for the correctional centers is ambitious. “From what we have observed, progress is evident. We will enhance the system to align with the agenda of Mr. President’s renewed hope.”

“We will also implement relocation programs as part of the government’s efforts to redefine Nigeria’s correctional system,” Tunji-Ojo added.

The minister emphasized that the federal government aims to establish a world-class correctional system that focuses on reform and transformation. “These correctional centers will serve as institutions for learning, transforming lives in the national interest, reducing recidivism rates to zero, and enhancing national security.”

He further stated that the federal government intends to provide relief to all Nigerians, including those in the Diaspora, correctional centers, and inmates, in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
