The Federal Government has awarded six Toyota Camry saloon cars to distinguished civil servants who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their assigned duties. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, announced this during the official presentation ceremony for the 2024 Civil Service Week Public Service Excellence Award recipients.

According to a statement by the Director of Communications, Mohammed Ahmed, this gesture fulfills the promise made during the 2024 Civil Service Week Dinner and Award Night.

“The Federal Government, through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has presented six Toyota Camry saloon cars to the 2024 Civil Service Week Public Service Excellence Award recipients. These are a set of workers who have distinguished themselves exceptionally in the delivery of the various duties and tasks assigned to them,” the statement noted.

Dr. Yemi-Esan emphasized the importance of delivering on promises, stating, “We are here to deliver on the promise that was made, and I believe that when you say something, you back it up with a corresponding action because reality, at all times, vindicates.”

She urged civil servants to shun gratification in any form and embrace hard work, assuring that good performance will always be rewarded.

The recognition aims to create role models, promote a culture that supports the attainment of the goals and objectives of Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and improve staff productivity and work quality. This is in line with the sixth pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25), which focuses on enhancing the value proposition of employees for accelerated national development.

The award recipients are:

  • Ndubuisi Barry, Director, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation
  • Akoji Perpetual Dumebi, Deputy Director, Labour and Employment
  • Anamah Benjamin Ugochukwu, Deputy Director, Art, Culture and Creative Economy
  • Olanrewaju Adenike Omolara, Chief Executive Officer, Police Affairs
  • Engr. Geoffrey Wetjwak Jwal, Deputy Director, Industry, Trade and Investment
  • Chinwe Chikelu Ilori, Assistant Director, Marine and Blue Economy

In her welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Service Policies and Strategies Office, Dr. Deborah Odoh, expressed gratitude to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for her support, which enabled the procurement of these awards for the outstanding civil servants.

Dr. Odoh also praised Dr. Yemi-Esan for her leadership and exemplary lifestyle, which has elevated the service to an enviable height and provided an enabling environment for officers to exercise their capabilities and talents. “Our pledge is that we will continue to do more, even as she moves on to a higher height. We pledge to continuously make her proud,” she added.

The representative of the awardees, Mr. Anamah Benjamin Ugochukwu, Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, thanked the Head of Service for the gesture and pledged their unwavering loyalty to the government and the civil service, as well as continued hard work.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the HoSF-Designate, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, OON, mni, Permanent Secretaries Raymond Omachi (Common Service Office), Dr. Deborah Odoh (Service Policies and Strategies Office), and Mrs. Fatima Mammood (Career Management Office), along with directors, staff, colleagues, family, and friends of the awardees.
