In trying to tackle the shortage of aviation personnel, the Federal Government has given the green light for the inclusion of Eastwing Aviation Training Institute in the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

After passing the technical assessment by the FG, the institute is now set to start admitting students through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB. Upon finishing their studies, the students will receive national diploma and high national diploma qualifications.

Dr. Christopher Edeh, the founder and CEO of Eastwing Aviation, emphasized the importance of the institution’s approval. He encouraged young people to seize the chance provided by the institute to pursue their aspirations of becoming pilots, aviation engineers, cabin crew, or other roles within the industry.

He expressed that the approval opens doors for youths to explore the aviation field. Whether in seeking advice or aiming for a career, they have the needed support to nurture their dreams. “Our goal is to ensure that you have a path forward after graduation.”

He further mentioned that “It has been my desire to give back to society considering what I have passed through from the day I joined the Nigerian Air Force.

“Being the first aviation school in the South-East region means a lot to us. It means that I am getting closer to my dream and I have reached that stage where society can benefit from me.”

Edeh explained the certification process of the institute, highlighting his collaboration with former colleagues. He said,

“Those who worked with me on this project were colleagues that we served together. They have been very supportive throughout this quest. It was purely a communal effort, what you would call ‘Wazobia’ and we are where we are today.”

Additionally, the Eastwing Aviation Institute recently established a non-governmental organization to support talented underprivileged youths who meet the necessary criteria but lack the financial means to pursue their aspirations. The founder mentioned that he is optimistic that the new opportunity will attract a significant turnout.

He further said that Aviation is often seen as complex, but we have made it accessible to everyone. There are numerous roles in this sector for interested candidates; when you visit airports, you see many people handling luggage, but we believe they can excel in various other capacities.
