The FIFA world ranking is calculated via a complex process where a team’s overall ranking in the past, goals scored, goals conceded, home and away venue, etc. are taken into consideration.
Nigeria female football team, the Super Falcons remains the best ranked team in Africa in the current FIFA world ranking released in June.
According to the rankings published by the world football governing body, FIFA has added two points to the Super Falcons which helped them maintain their top position in the African continent.
Nigeria only gained 0.09 points because they beat South Africa on the first leg of the Olympics Games qualifiers (+3.14), but only managed a draw in the return leg, which cost them 3.05 pts.
The team is grouped in a group of deaths in the upcoming Paris Olympics as they are grouped with Spain, Brazil and Japan.
Spain are currently the highest ranked team in the world while Brazil and Japan are seventh and tenth respectively which makes the group a dangerous one for the team.
