The Falconets have taken part in all the editions of the competition since the first edition which was played in Canada in 2002.

The West Africa side have played in the final of the competition twice after being defeated by group rivals Germany on both occasions as they became runners up.

Nigeria played the final in 2010 and in 2014 but were not able to win either of the tournaments as they were closer in 2014 when Asisat Oshoala won both the golden boot and the golden ball.

Nigeria has also played in six quarter finals and has only been eliminated in the group stage once in 2016.

This time, they will have to face their nightmare in the tournament Germany in the group stage as they seek to clinch their first FIFA Women U-20 World Cup.
