Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has conveyed her heartfelt condolences following the tragic school building collapse in Jos, Plateau State.
In a statement released on Saturday by her spokesperson, Mrs. Bukola Kukoyi, Senator Tinubu expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives, including students and teachers.
“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the school building collapse in Jos, which claimed the lives of our innocent children and their teachers,” Senator Tinubu said. “Losing these young lives, full of promise, is truly heartbreaking.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire people of Plateau State, especially Governor Caleb Muftwang, and the families who have been affected by this devastating incident.”
She added, “May God comfort you all and grant you the strength to bear this immense loss. May the souls of our precious ones rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
According to thepaan News, the tragic incident has resulted in the death of at least 22 people, with 132 others reported injured.
Mr. Musa Ashoms, the Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, confirmed these figures in a statement to the press on Friday.
Emergency responders are actively engaged in search and rescue operations at the site of the collapse, identified as Saint Academy in Jos.
As of the latest update, 154 individuals have been rescued from the debris, while those injured are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals in Jos.
The Plateau State government, through Mr. Ashoms, extended its deepest condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, pledging continued efforts to support those affected and to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
