The Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mary Alo confirmed on Saturday that a road accident on the old Oyo/Ogbomoso road on Friday night resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to three others.
Alo detailed that the accident involved two vehicles carrying a total of 11 passengers. The collision occurred between a white commercial truck, which lacked company details or a registration number, and a commercial ash-colored space bus with registration number LRN 185 YR.
“The accident was a head-on collision on a single carriageway, about three kilometers from Ile-Abu in Ogbomoso,” Alo said. “Five people lost their lives in the crash—three men and two women.
The injured, which include two men and one woman, are receiving treatment at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital’s mortuary.”
Alo attributed the cause of the collision to speeding and urged drivers to adhere to road safety regulations, particularly avoiding wrongful overtaking.
