Nigerian highlife sensation Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour N’abania, recently opened up about a pivotal moment in his early career when he was asked to leave the stage to make way for the popular duo, P-Square.
The artist shared the story during an appearance on the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, reflecting on the experience that ultimately became a turning point in his journey to stardom.
Flavour, who began his musical path as a church choir conductor and drummer, recounted how the encounter with P-Square unfolded in Enugu.
He explained, “I remember one day with P-Square when they had just released ‘Temptation.’ They were promoting a show, and the promoters brought them to City Centre in Enugu.”

At the time, Flavour had already established a loyal fan base at the venue, where crowds gathered every weekend. However, everything changed when P-Square arrived. “The manager just said, ‘Hello, off that thing.’ I switched off, passed the microphone, and went to sit. Then when Paul of P-Square picked up the microphone and just said, ‘This na temptation,’ everywhere scattered,” Flavour recounted.
This humbling experience, instead of discouraging him, fueled his determination to rise in the music industry. Today, Flavour is celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most iconic highlife musicians, with a successful career that continues to thrive.
