To address the gender gap in Africa’s technology sector, Mrs. Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has launched The Ladies in Tech Africa Program (LITA). This initiative aims to empower 76,000 women across the continent through a free three-month tech training program.
The program is a collaboration between Africa Missions Global and The Incubator Hub, designed to provide comprehensive training in high-demand tech skills. It utilizes an online learning platform to ensure accessibility for women from various backgrounds. By offering this free training, LITA seeks to eliminate financial barriers that often hinder women from pursuing careers in technology.
According to Mrs. Adeboye, empowering women is crucial for fostering innovation and economic growth in Africa. She stated, “The Ladies in Tech Africa Programme is committed to creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem where women have equal opportunities to succeed.”
The program commenced in August and features a curriculum that covers a wide range of tech skills. It aligns with Africa Missions Global’s Horizon 2033 initiative, which aims to empower 100 million Africans with the necessary skills for the digital economy.
In addition to technical training, LITA will provide mentorship and career guidance to female tech entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the challenges of the tech industry. This initiative is expected to play a vital role in driving innovation and social development across Africa.
By nurturing a new generation of skilled female tech talents, The Ladies in Tech Africa Program aims to contribute significantly to the continent’s digital transformation and sustainable development goals.
