The former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the recent disparaging remarks made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), against former Rivers State Governor Dr. Peter Odili.
On Sunday, Wike publicly insulted Odili for allegedly aligning himself with current Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a Special Thanksgiving Service hosted by the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Port Harcourt. Wike labeled Odili as an “ingrate” and a “rent seeker.”
In response, Frank, who serves as the Ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) to East Africa and the Middle East, issued a statement in Abuja denouncing Wike’s comments. He accused Wike of consistently betraying those who have supported him.
“Wike’s outrageous comments about Odili reflect his tendency to turn allies into adversaries and his unpredictable nature. This is not the first instance, and it certainly won’t be the last,” Frank asserted.
He pointed out that Wike has a history of betrayal, mentioning how he turned against former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience after they helped him secure a ministerial position and the governorship of Rivers State.
Frank also highlighted Wike’s political maneuvers against former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, despite the significant benefits he received from Amaechi’s support.
“In 2023, Wike formed a dubious alliance that undermined his party—the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—ensuring they lost the presidential election. He continues to create unrest within the party, as he is doing in Rivers State, to weaken it ahead of the 2027 elections,” he added.
Frank emphasized that Wike’s dual roles as a member of the PDP and a minister in an APC administration illustrate his treachery.
“I have consistently warned President Bola Tinubu to be cautious of Wike as we approach 2027. Like Brutus in Julius Caesar, Wike often deceives his allies with false pretenses only to betray them when they need him the most. He lacks respect for those who have supported him,” he stated.
Frank criticized Wike’s lack of loyalty to political relationships, asserting that for Wike, if he is not in control, no one else should be.
He cautioned that Wike’s public displays of completing projects in the FCT are merely tactics to position himself as a stronger presidential candidate in 2027.
He urged Tinubu to be vigilant in his dealings with Wike to avoid becoming his next target.
