Comrade Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vehemently criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio, asserting that he is unfit to evaluate the character of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Frank’s comments come in response to Akpabio’s recent remarks, in which he accused Fubara of “treachery and betrayal” during an event in Port Harcourt celebrating the 57th birthday of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. Frank contended that Akpabio is incapable of offering valid judgments on others when he himself lacks integrity.
He pointed out that Akpabio’s accusations are hypocritical, stating, “A betrayer cannot label a more decent individual as treacherous.” Frank emphasized that both Akpabio and Wike have previously criticized the APC, only to later align themselves with the party, questioning the sincerity of their actions.
“The man who spoke is a well-known betrayer, and the person he defends is also a betrayer. It’s ironic that Akpabio, who has proven to be a Pharisee, now acts as Wike’s spokesperson,” Frank remarked, highlighting the inconsistency in their political allegiances.
Frank further questioned who truly embodies betrayal: “Is it the man advocating for the people of Rivers State or the one who has turned the 10th Senate into a mere extension of the executive?”
He recalled that when Akpabio entered the Senate in 2015, he undermined the established Senate hierarchy by taking the position of minority leader from the more senior Senator James Manager. Frank accused Akpabio of betraying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by defecting to the APC while serving as minority leader.
Moreover, he claimed that Wike, despite his history of betrayal, continues to hold a ministerial position in an APC-led government, further complicating his claims of loyalty to the PDP.
Frank expressed confidence in Governor Fubara, urging him to remain resolute against political adversaries and asserting that justice will ultimately prevail. He encouraged the public to dismiss Akpabio’s unfounded accusations and redirect their focus toward the critical issues affecting the citizens of Rivers State.
