John Azuta Mbata, a former Senator who served Rivers East Constituency in the National Assembly, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to allow peace in Rivers State.
Commenting on the ongoing political tensions in Rivers, which have led to a clash between the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor Wike, Mbata emphasized that Wike should concentrate on his responsibilities in Abuja and allow Governor Fubara to govern effectively in Rivers.
The former lawmaker asserted that Wike should not attempt to control the affairs of Rivers State from Abuja while there is an active Governor in place.
“He is currently serving as a minister and performing well; our hope is that he continues to excel in his role, focusing on his duties in Abuja while permitting Fubara to manage the state,” Mbata stated.
He stated his support for Fubara’s administration, expressing a commitment to backing the Governor in his efforts. “We firmly stand behind the Fubara government and are resolute in our support, recognizing that leadership comes in cycles.”
“This is the moment for Sir Siminalayi Fubara to demonstrate his capability and drive progress in Rivers State,” he concluded.
