In a heart-wrenching incident, four people lost their lives, and several others sustained severe injuries following a ghastly road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State earlier today.

The tragic crash, which occurred near the Ogere axis, involved a commercial bus and a trailer. According to eyewitnesses, the trailer lost control and veered into the lane of the oncoming bus, resulting in a head-on collision. The impact of the crash was so severe that the bus was completely mangled, trapping the passengers inside.

Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and state emergency services, arrived swiftly at the scene to rescue survivors. However, four passengers, including the bus driver, were pronounced dead at the scene, while others were rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC confirmed the incident, noting that preliminary investigations suggest the trailer driver may have been speeding, leading to the loss of control.

“We urge motorists to observe speed limits and maintain road safety regulations to avoid such needless tragedies. The families of the victims will be contacted, and we are intensifying efforts to ensure safer roads,” the commander stated.
