Dr. Opialu Fabian, the Executive Director of Good Governance Advocates of Nigeria (GGAN), has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), for their innovative efforts that have significantly enhanced Nigeria’s aviation compliance on the global stage.
In a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, Dr. Fabian highlighted the remarkable progress made in the aviation sector under Keyamo’s leadership, noting that the past year has been marked by significant achievements.
He emphasized that Keyamo’s strategic leadership and targeted reforms have cultivated better relationships within the industry, promoting trade, economic growth, and development.
The GGAN pointed out that stakeholders in the aviation field now enjoy increased confidence, fostering optimism for collaboration and business opportunities.
Dr. Fabian remarked on the Minister’s proactive engagement with aviation stakeholders, which has ensured inclusivity and adherence to international standards.
Among Keyamo’s key accomplishments is the successful implementation of the Cape Town Convention, which underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to aligning aircraft financing and leasing practices with global norms.
Additionally, the group acknowledged improvements in safety protocols within the ministry, earning praise from international organizations.
Keyamo’s unwavering focus on safety has improved Nigeria’s adherence to global aviation standards, according to GGAN.
“For the record, the Honourable Minister has not only advanced operations and infrastructure but has placed significant emphasis on human capital development,” Dr. Fabian stated.
“Mr. Keyamo recognized that a thriving aviation and aerospace sector requires nurturing successful individuals, leading the Ministry to sponsor training initiatives that enhance the skills of aviation personnel through partnerships with international organizations,” he continued.
“This approach ensures that the ongoing reforms are sustainable and prepares the industry to face future challenges with capable professionals.”
Dr. Fabian also noted, “Keyamo’s commitment to fostering diverse global partnerships has opened new avenues for Nigeria.”
“His visionary policies and reforms have bolstered the industry’s international reputation, attracting foreign direct investment by strengthening ties with global aviation associations and financiers.”
The Minister’s dedication to transparency and accountability in aviation resource management has further built public trust.
“The era of mismanagement and fund misappropriation in our aviation sector is now behind us. To ensure sustainability and equity among citizens, Mr. Keyamo secured approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to revoke the ticket payment exemption previously granted to high-ranking individuals at our airports,” the group stated.
They concluded by acknowledging that Keyamo’s assertive approach in the ministry reflects a strong commitment to delivering value to Nigerians while upholding global best practices.
