Nigerian Senator John Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revolutionizing Nigerian sports. “We are fully dedicated to harnessing the current momentum in Nigerian sports to effect positive change and achieve unprecedented success” he declared.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday 14th May, Enoh emphasized the ministry’s unwavering determination to catapult sports in Nigeria to unprecedented heights of excellence and distinction.

He further reiterated their resolute commitment to building upon past achievements and instigating a paradigm shift in the sports sector.

“Our goal is to usher in a significant transformation in Nigerian sports through collaborative efforts and strategic initiatives.

We aim not only to excel on the international stage but also to cultivate a culture of sports excellence at all levels,” Enoh remarked.

Addressing Nigeria’s exclusion from the Confederation of African Football’s 2023 AFCON officials list, the statement highlighted the minister’s proactive approach in convening stakeholders and declaring an officiating emergency.

As a result, a comprehensive roadmap has been devised to revamp officiating in Nigeria, including the inclusion of Nigerian match officials in FIFA’s pool for international competitions in 2024.

Casting their gaze towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the minister expressed unwavering confidence in Team Nigeria’s preparedness.

Nigerian athletes have secured qualifications across various sports and events, with an impressive addition of four Olympic tickets in athletics following their stellar performance at the World Relays Championships in the Bahamas.
