Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on religious leaders to collaborate with governments to address critical challenges such as poverty and insecurity facing Nigeria.
Speaking during the induction of South West officers of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the 56th birthday celebration of Bishop Akintunde Akin-Akinsanya in Abeokuta, the governor emphasized the crucial role of the Christian community in shaping the nation’s socio-cultural and spiritual landscape.
Governor Abiodun urged CAN members to lead with integrity and compassion, fostering meaningful dialogue for societal advancement.
He also encouraged support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to promoting peace and religious harmony across Ogun State.
The governor pledged to fulfill the church’s request to reconstruct the road leading to Community Faith Avenue, promising that it would be completed soon.
The event also saw the decoration of Governor Abiodun as Grand Patron of South West CAN and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a founding father of CAN.
