Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on traditional rulers in the state to foster greater unity among themselves. The governor made this appeal during the coronation ceremony of his wife, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, as the Erelu Soludero of Erinmo Ijesa.

Speaking through the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Tola Faseru, Adeleke expressed his gratitude to the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa, Oba Odunayo Ajayi, for bestowing the chieftaincy title on his wife. He described the honor as a clear demonstration of the monarch’s affection and respect for his family.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo on Saturday, Adeleke said, “I must congratulate my dear wife on this honor and extend my gratitude to the family.

This chieftaincy title symbolizes our government’s and the Adeleke family’s ongoing commitment to supporting the people of Osun State. I thank Kabiyesi for this recognition, which will inspire us to do even more for our state.”

Governor Adeleke also took the opportunity to congratulate Oba Ajayi on his coronation anniversary, underscoring the importance of royal institutions in communal and state development.

He noted, “The contributions of our royal institutions to the growth and stability of our communities and state are invaluable. In challenging times, our royal fathers provide essential counsel and moral support that stabilize governance and promote effective administration.”

Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the role of traditional rulers, stating, “Our government will continue to seek the wisdom of our traditional rulers and support their vital role in governance.

We are dedicated to delivering the benefits of democracy and improving the lives of our people, while also urging our royal fathers to strengthen unity within traditional councils.”

He warned against actions that could lead to division and fragmentation within the traditional councils, stressing, “A cohesive traditional council enhances the ability of our royal fathers to influence government policies effectively.

The growing signs of division are concerning and pose a threat to the integrity of our traditional institutions.
