The Chairman of the South West Governors Forum and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Yoruba people on the occasion of Isese Day, celebrated today, August 20, 2024, across the six states of the South West region.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Yoruba traditional rulers and the community for their dedication to preserving the rich cultural and traditional values of the Yoruba heritage.
Highlighting the importance of cultural preservation in an increasingly globalized world, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the uniqueness of Yoruba traditions and the need to safeguard them for future generations.
He praised the traditional rulers and practitioners of traditional religions for their role in maintaining the Yoruba cultural identity.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also encouraged the people to reflect on the Yoruba “Omoluabi” ethos, which embodies tolerance, hospitality, and peaceful coexistence among individuals, religious groups, and neighbors. He stressed that these values should continue to define the Yoruba identity.
In honor of Isese Day, Governor Sanwo-Olu declared a public holiday in Lagos State and applauded his counterparts across the South West for doing the same in their states.
