The Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured residents that the state, under his administration, will continue to ensure an even distribution of projects across all local government areas.
Governor Eno gave this assurance at the commissioning of a Primary Health Center (PHC) in Oboyo Ikot Ita, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
He noted that the construction of the Nsit Ibom PHC fulfills a promise he made upon assuming office to establish a primary health center and a model primary school in every local government area.
He added that, in addition to those already commissioned, seven more projects will be ready for commissioning before the end of the year.
The Governor also promised that 2025 would be a year focused on projects, given the extensive analysis and new approach to the 2025 budget.
He stated that for the people of Nsit Ibom, the Nung Udoe–Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom, and Nsit Ubium Road project is well captured in the budget and will be executed accordingly.
He assured the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly that their constituency projects would be flagged off shortly, but emphasized that the projects must align with the ARISE Agenda.
Governor Eno, who has been committed to his development blueprint—the ARISE Agenda—stressed that the government is deeply concerned about the welfare of rural residents and has consistently worked to improve their living standards through initiatives like road construction, model primary healthcare centers, model primary schools, and programs such as the free food voucher initiative.
He emphasized that the choice of projects in rural areas is made by the people, constructed for their benefit, and must be protected by the people from vandalism or misuse.
The Governor also made a brief stop at a constituency briefing and the empowerment of approximately 1,450 individuals organized by Hon. Eric Akpan, the representative of the area in the State House of Assembly, at St. Louis Primary School, Mbiokporo 1.
He commended the legislator for his effective representation and for positively impacting his constituents.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh, commended the Governor for the quality of the facility, noting that it meets international standards, and assured that it will be put to good use.
He urged the community to register with the Health Insurance Scheme to fully benefit from the facility.
The Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Otobong Aaron, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his contributions to Nsit Ibom and assured him of continued support from the people.
Similarly, Hon. Eric Akpan noted that it was the first time in the community’s history that a sitting governor visited to commission a project, and he stated that this act of goodwill will remain memorable for the people.
In his remarks, the political leader of Nsit Ibom, Gen. Paul Isang (retd), recalled the challenges faced by residents, particularly pregnant women, who previously had to travel to Etinan Local Government Area to access healthcare.
He expressed that the primary healthcare center is highly valued by the community and assured that they would ensure its optimal use.
The Chairman of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Martins Akpan, also praised the Governor for prioritizing primary healthcare, recognizing it as a fundamental need for all.
